Topic: which day of the week to weigh myself?-
LynnGr, Mar 15 2009 7:02 am33 words

Is there a better day of the week to weigh myself? If I weigh myself on Friday, I might splurge on the weekend. But if I weigh-in on Monday, I always feel guilty!

I think the best day is the day your most comfortable with.

For me it's Monday because that's WILD BUNCH night.
It's a program through the Diabetes Treatment Center. The last meeting for this year is Monday.
Once it's over I plan to go back to Friday.

The wild bunch sounds like fun! I'm curious - why Friday to weigh yourself?

It's the last day of the work week and I tend to weigh my best on Friday.

WILD BUNCH(Winning in Life with Diabetes) is a lot of fun. This year it was a 10 week program.
Everyone gets a meal plan based on their boodwork and other information.
Of course your weighed each week.
The dieticians from the Treatment center took turns leading the group.
We had a 30 minute exercise session we did each meeting.
One time a Country Line Dance group came and we exercised with them. That was really fun!!
2 of the nurses from the Treatment Center took being with us when we exercised.

But best of all we talked, laughed, and had fun while working toward our goals.
This year my goal was just to get back to following my meal plan and regular serious exercise.
I achieved my goal

Last night everyone got a really nice cook book.
The one that lost the most got some scales that also tells you about your feet as well as weight.
Everyone brought a dish either made from a diabetic recipe or modified so it would fit into our meal plans.

What a cool group! I really like the combination of exercise, support, working toward goals and having fun. Can you repeat the 10 week session as often as you want?

WILD BUNCH like Christmas comes but once a year.
I really wish it was more but I can certainly understand why it's not.
First off those ladies work from 8 in the morning to 4:30 in the afternoon and then have to be back at 6. The meetings last from 6-8.
There is a fee for the program but it's very very small and you get way more than the fee covers.
Such as a new meter, a tee shirt, a workbook, lab work (at the beginning and end) and some other very nice things.

You can attend WILD BUNCH as many times as you wish.

I forgot to mention one of the speakers we had this year was a representative of Abbot from Memphis.
She made several dishes using glucerna.
She also told us about this site. I'm so glad she did.
The features(my meals, my activities. etc) are very helpful.
I have really missed having a community to visit since the one I loved so closed down about 3 years ago. It was a bit different than this one but I like this one too.
Some of the topics I've answered have really helped me to get back on track.

It sounds like your Wild Bunch would benefit from having your own weekly support group! Have you ever thought about starting a support group, perhaps in a local library?

brenyrbr, Mar 22 2009 8:54 pm, in reply to LynnGr75 words

The Diabetes Treatment Center does several support groups.
The one in my community meets once a month.

If my dietician okays it I'm going to be going to a weekly weight loss group in addition to seeing her beginning in April.

I think weekly support and weekly face to face weigh ins are important.
I also think being able to post here is also a very valuable thing for me to be able to do.

I really like the way you pay attention to what works for you, and then seek out ways to make that happen. Regular weigh-ins and regular contact within a support group or with a health professional are both really good ways to help us stay on track. I like posting here as well!
