Topic: Low-carb fruits and veggies?-
tinap1, Dec 12 2008 9:30 am45 words

I'd like to get more servings of fruits and veggies into my diet, but some of them can be high in carbs. I know watermelon and cucumbers are low in carbs, but I don't love either of those. What are some other good low-carb choices?

I think it's easier to list the vegetables that are high in carbohydrate: potato, sweet potato, corn, peas, lima beans, winter squash. All of the other veggies are low-carb!

Fruit consistently contains carbohydrate, but there ARE some fruits that also have a higher water content, meaning you can enjoy a larger portion size for the same amount of carbohydrate. The American Diabetes Association has a good article on this topic at http://www.diabetes.org/food-nutrition-lifestyle/nutrition/what-can-i-eat/fruits.jsp
