Topic: Weight gain as we age-
LynnGr, Oct 10 2008 2:52 pm59 words

Is it normal to gain weight as we get older? It seems like my weight goes up a pound or two every few years no matter how much I watch my food intake. Am I doomed to continue to reduce my calorie intake, or is there anything else I can do to avoid gaining weight as I get older?

If you find out the answers to those questions, please let me know! I'm in the same boat. It seems as though every year a couple more unwanted pounds creep on despite everything I'm doing to cut back on calories. I think for me it's exercise and ramping up how frequently and how I work out. I seem to notice that when I'm really active with my exercise regimen, that I can at least keep my weight stable for a while, and not worry so much about counting every carb and calorie.

I agree with you on the exercise intensity. Two of my friends told me this week that drinking even just 1 or 2 glasses of wine seems to stall their weight loss for almost a week, even if everything else stays the same. I think that as we age, even a few extra calories here or there add up more quickly.
