Topic: Learning the Vocab-
ShelleyN, Aug 1 2008 10:54 pm79 words

Learning about diabetes brings with it certain terms and vocabulary words that can be new. Amongst all the other things to learn, an unfamiliar term might be difficult to understand.

Did you have difficulty when you were first diagnosed in understanding the terms and words your doctor used with you? Do you still find you have trouble?

What is the best way you have found to understand these terms?

Does understanding them help you to understand your diabetes better?

You're right that the terminology can be daunting! I use my computer to search for unfamiliar terms, and often find that the American Diabetic Association website is a great source of information.

I use the American Diabetic Association website as well. It's a good place to start, then I ask my doctor about anything I don't understand. One of the reasons I like my doctor so much is that he never makes you feel rushed when asking questions.
