Diet is essential to maintaining a blood sugar level within the recommended range. Cooking and baking can present challenges to keep the final product as healthy as possible and diabetes friendly.

Do you routinely substitute anything in your cooking or baking to lower sugar or carb levels?

Have you tried special recipes made for people with diabetes before? If so, did you like them?

Do you have any recipes that are both diabetic friendly and delicious you would like to share?

I tend to use recipes that include nutrition information, including carbohydrate content, when I cook so I can use that information in my meal planning. I might increase the amount of vegetables and decrease the pasta or rice in a casserole, or use a whole wheat pasta or brown rice instead of white. Other than that, I tend to follow the recipe. There are so many great-tasting recipes available with nutrition information, it's really simple to do.

I agree. I think it's critical to know what you are eating in any recipe you make. I often increase the vegetables in various dishes as well. I especially like to do that when making soup. I can't eat rice, so I use pasta or noodles, but as few as possible without eliminating them entirely.
