Topic: What's for breakfast?-
LynnGr, Jun 11 2008 2:03 pm60 words

As I walked through the cereal aisle of the grocery store this week, I was struck by the seemingly hundreds of different breakfast cereals begging for my attention. How do you decide which breakfast cereal to eat, and what factors into your decision? Have you changed your breakfast cereal recently to something new because of a health or nutrition concern?

I love Fiber One cereal. I actually eat a cup, and it takes care of almost all of my fiber all at one time! I always have it with fresh fruit or frozen fruit like strawberries or blueberries.

Did you have any digestive problems adjusting to the fiber in the cereal? I know several people who've had to start with a very small portion of higher fiber cereals, and then gradually increase the amount they eat as their body tolerates the additional fiber.

Once you can do that, it's a great start to the day!

When I first started to increase my fiber intake, I had problems with it. I don't eat the cereal, but use fiber replacement supplements. The bottle said to chew two of them a day and I did. I had cramping and other problems. I learned from that...I did a half of one for a few days, then a whole one, then one and a half, then finally the two. That worked well for me.

I don't know why labels of fiber supplements don't caution people to start slowly and drink more water when increasing fiber! I'm glad you figured it out on your own, but it would have been much better if you'd been forewarned.
