Topic: Health benefits of coffee-
tinap1, Jun 15 2009 6:19 pm38 words

I've been trying to wean myself off of coffee, but now I'm hearing about all of the health benefits associated with it. Does anyone have advice on how to include coffee in your diet in a balanced way?

I've been hearing a lot of conflicting information about coffee and caffeine in general. Now someplace in Europe is doing a study of caffeine in fighting cholesterol and heart disease. My doctor keeps telling me to cut down on caffeine because it raises my blood pressure. What's a person to believe?

I have cut down on coffee, also use half decafe and half reg coffee. If I have coffee my blood pressure rises by 10 points. But I need the coffee to wake up for the day's work.

We get a lot of information from the news media these days.
Some of it is right and some of it's not.

One year you hear a certain food or drink is bad for you and the next you hear it's ok.
Often it's difficult to know what to believe.

I think if my doctor gave me advice and it conflicted with what I've heard I'd go with my doctor's advice.
I'd also pay attention to how my body reacts to something.
For example Sugarly's bp rises when she drinks caffine.

In my case it's calcium.
I limit my calcium intake because my blood calcium goes up way to high when I have to much of it.
That not only includes dairy products but supplements and most vitimins as well.
High blood calcium is not good for anyone.

I love coffee and, since my blood pressure is fine, I have no problem whatsoever with it. New studies allegedly show that coffee helps prevent Alzheimer's disease.
