Topic: Older neighborhoods and weight loss-

I just came across something interesting about a new study that found that the year your neighborhood was built may be as important as diet and exercise for losing weight. The reasoning is that older neighborhoods tend to have a variety of stores and businesses located within walking distance, so people wind up traveling by foot to do errands, go to local restaurants or other activities. More modern neighborhoods that consist of large areas with nothing but housing tends to hinder walking and forces people to use their cars more to get around. I definitely think there might be something to this. What do you think?

That's a really interesting observation. I've always thought it would be wonderful to live in an area where I could walk to the grocery store, library, post office and bank. I have to drive into town from where I live now, but I try to park in one spot and then do all my errands on foot whenever possible. Maybe I should look into moving into an older neighborhood!
