I recently came across the National Weight Control Registry (http://www.nwcr.ws/), the largest prospective investigation of long-term, successful weight loss maintenance. It identifies and tracks the characteristics of more than 5,000 people who have succeeded at long-term weight loss. Some habits of these winning "losers" include: watching fewer than 10 hours of TV a week; limiting calories to 1,800 a day; eating a low-fat diet; and walking about an hour a day, or burning the equivalent calories. I have some of these habits, but could probably learn from these people. Were you aware of the National Weight Control Registry? What do you think about it? |
