Topic: Eating at your desk-
tinap1, Oct 25 2008 8:44 am83 words

According to the American Dietetic Association and ConAgra Foods Foundation, 70% of Americans eat at their desks several times a week, a habit that can lead to poor nutritional choices and food-safety problems.

Are you a desk-side snacker? If so, what do you do to try to eat healthier and create a healthy eating environment while at work?

Have you successfully broken away from the "eat at your desk mentality?" Do you have tips to share about how others can do the same?

You caught me! I don't usually snack at my desk, partly because I don't have much space and I try to avoid getting crumbs on my work. But today I'm traveling, and yes, I'm sitting at the desk working and snacking.

When I'm working at home, it's easy to get up and take a break for a snack or a meal. But when I'm traveling, I really don't have any where to go for a snack, so I tend to snack while working. I'm glad you brought this up, and I'll have to think about what I can do to change this habit.

I, too, often find myself eating at my desk during my workday. This is where having a meal and snack plan helps me. Instead of going into the kitchen and "grazing" as I have done so often in the past, I plan my snacks and make sure I have plenty of what I need on hand to elilminate the temptation to eat foods that I know I should try to avoid.

A meal plan makes a lot of sense. Do you eat your meal at your desk, or go someplace else?
