I just registered on this website for kinda a support group. I do belong to one at the hospital close to my house. It is mostly retired people, and, turns out, mostly women, although we do have a few men who come. Don't get me wrong, we welcome the men, but I don't think most men attend support groups, either on the internet or attend one near their home. I also go on another website everyday and feel that it is a real support group for me. I guess I could introduce myself - I am T2 for over 20 years and went from diet/exercise to meds to insulin without meds. BUT I take other meds for other things like BP, cholestrol, etc. At my support at the hospital we can get very serious about this disease one min. and the next talk about others things and just laugh. We are a very supportive group with an EXELLANT facilitor who is a RD/CDE. The other website I go to is very helpful also and has a "chit chat" corner where we can talk about all kinds of things, not necessarily diagetes. Anyway, I love both of my support groups. Don't know that much about this one to really know if I like it or not. I know when I call someone connected with this they are always very helpful. |
