Topic: Exercises for the desk-bound-

We've discussed ways to build exercise into your workday, but what about those of us with jobs that literally demand that we sit behind a desk all day long? It can be quite a challenge trying to be more active during a workday if you are confined to one area or seated next to a group of people (and if you're a receptionist, it's especially difficult!).

Do those of you with desk-based jobs have strategies to share about how you incorporated fitness into your workday?

If you succeeded in being more physically active at work, how did you do it and overcome obstacles?

One of my friends answers the phone at her company, so she can't leave her desk - except for two 15 minute breaks and lunch. She uses both of her breaks to go for 15 minute power walks through the halls at work. She even brings in a pair of walking shoes that she can quickly change into!

I tend to spend a lot of time at my desk. In addition to standing up and stretching, I try to stretch my legs out under it, and do stretching of my arms as well. I like to do things like bend over and touch the floor (while sitting in the chair) to really get some good stretching in. I figure it might not be a complete workout, but every little bit helps!
