Topic: How do you handle diet slip-ups?-
tinap1, Jul 24 2008 9:16 am57 words

Even though we may be keeping a healthy diet every day, there are always times when we cheat a bit or maybe even go through a week of slip-ups.

How do you deal with "cheating" on your diet?

Do you have any motivational tactics to share about getting back on track after a period of diet slip-ups?

I like to think of it as a choice, rather than cheating. If I call it cheating, then it almost seems like it's OK. But if I realize that it really comes down to the choices that I make, then I'm taking ownership of the situation. The reality is that no one follows a diet 100% of the time. If I choose to eat something higher in calories or carbohydrate, then I have to be willing to accept the consequences. I find that looking at it this way helps me stay on track the majority of the time, and since I don't beat myself up when I make a different choice, I avoid the emotional eating that used to plague me.
